Only one wrong
The power went out, they said I could go home, the sun was shining, there was a nice breeze blowing from the west.
I got out, went into my car, went home, and got the map to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles)
I drove there, got in line, filled a form, got a ticket, talked, signed, and signed some more, had my thumb digitally scanned, took a picture, took a test, missed one question, and got a paper.
I went to the DMV to get my Drivers License. It should be arriving in the mail shortly.
I'm happy, and the visit was brief. That's the nice thing about going early. Shortly, I should be a Californian. Well, at least in a documentation sense.

Hmm, interesting, things fit.
My routine is getting arranged, and also I think it's time to explore the area and the people a bit more. I have to get some go in my boots to meet people.

Slowly making friends
Today, I went over by Chapman University again, up in the city of Orange. Randi, invited me, he's that same guy that invited me to the Dance event. So far, so friendly, and slowly I am getting to meet some people.
I do quite love meeting people, and it makes me happy. I still miss my home crew. Y'all know who you are. :)
Well, it's late Eastern time, which means I should be sleeping. Miss all my peeps. Mom, miss ya, sis, miss ya. X0X0.

Desk, it's a desk, ohh, it's a desk!
That is my room. :)
I just got done assembling the desk, and also the chair. That was fun, with many parts.
I had to remind myself which way to turn the screw sometimes, left loosey, righty tighty. That is how it goes.

bad IKEA, good Computer
Today, I went to the quite so wonderful to shop around IKEA.
There was a lot of stuff, and I was happy and excited to pick my new desk.
I got it all picked, and even knew the places I would get everything, the day was happy.
I went downstairs, to get my brand new items...
Ohhh, what, the shelf is empty. My desk top is not there, the legs are there, but not the top. Okay, try backup desk, what, the color I want is not there. I think of another potential backup, but I'm just not feeling it at this point. I go home, eat chinese food.
Now, the good part is that my big computer is up and running again. I can hear it's wonderful fans just behind me. The big frog, there happy. Ohh yeah, and that is after being tussled and rumbled in the trunk of my car. Quit Amazing.
Ohh yeah, heh, that computer is Frog. My laptop is Turtle. My server is Wolf, my mom's computer is Sheep, and my sister's computer is Monkey.
My previous computer was Alpha Deluxe. I don't remember the names of the other ones, but I think one was named *Licious, or something of the sort.
Okay now, I shall resume shopping for a desk, some other day, until then... sleep.

Home sweet home, just needs a desk
Okay, so it's finally starting to feel homey, which I like
I got my main computer out of the car, and I'm cruising the craigslist ads for a nice desk. The logistics of transporation are a whoole other thing.
With a desk, and a chair, then it will trully feel like a room.
I got paid today, which is indeed great, and I opened a new bank account, and it's nice that I can get a bonus for opening it, since the bank is new in the area. It's the same bank I had in Georgia, so I know how things go. I get more bonus money if I do direct deposit. I will surelly be doing that, very soon, haha.
I made some connections, and might go and meet up with some new people this weekend, hopefully it will all go well. :)

A brand new bed & some BBQ
Ok, remember that bed I bought last week?
Yeah, it sucked. It slowly leaked air out, and every night, I woke up a bit funkier.
I got a brand new one, and this time, it's queen sized. Yeah, yeah, it makes the room seem smaller, but it's much much more comfortable, and if I ever have an overnight guest, it will be more manageable. :)
Sunday, I went and had some BBQ, that was interesting, brand new people, two Hispanic guys, and I also met two older ladies, one which was very friendly, and nice. I'm going there Sunday again, since they are celebrating a birthday.
Hopefully this will open the door for meeting new people. *crosses finger*

A, ha. Spirders be gone
So, moments ago, I was going all gunslinger on my room. Corner, *BAM*, crack *BAM*, around door frames *BAM*
I had spider spray, and a purpose, and man, I was purposing that purpose, hahaha. Hey, at least no roaches, whew...

Ohh landlordy
So here is a latest thing that has happened.
As everyone probably knows, my car body is a bit messed up from the accident I had some time ago. Here is the little problem I am having to deal with.
My landloard is a dealer, therefore, he has a problem with my car... As he put it "i'm a dealer, so it doesn't look good for me, to have a car like that in front of my house. So park somewhere else on the street, and not in front of my house"
So yeah, now I can't park directly in front of where I live, how peachy right?
Ugh, well, he did say if I get a quote, he can get me the part for abour $25, and labor at a 30% discount. Which considering things, is not that bad. Well, for now, I just will park somewhere else...

We have a bed!
Ok, so I ended up buying on of those airbed things. They are ok comfortable, granted, i am strongly considering buying a bit bigger. I have a twin right now, that I bought at Wal-Mart. I might get a double, but I'll see after I sleep in it.
So, this will be the first time, that I will sleep in my own bed. Yeay, joy. :)
It's got a fuzzy cover, so it should be confy. Much better than raspy carpet, that is for sure. :)

No TV in CA, but Thank God You're Here
So, I have no TV here in California, but I thank NBC for broadcasting some of their shows online. I am now relaxing, and watching "Thank God You're Here"
That show is fun to watch, and entertaining. I still have two people to go.
I didn't expect a judge to be there, but I guess, that helps keep the show, and the sketches timelly, which makes sense. Also it ads some buffer time between performers.
Anywho, commercial is over, back to some more fun

Finally getting situated
I'm pretty much moved in, today I bought some of those wire cubey things, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and hangers. Ahh, those hangers came in just in time.
Still, the neighboorhood is nice, and it's not noisy at all. My room is a bit isolated from the other rooms, so that is good. The sun shines here in the morning, but usually by that time, I have gone to work. Still, things are good.
There is a Target right near my house, and I also got some Chinese food today. Chinese Food = Happyness. Their chicken was just the way I liked. Yummm
Now, my stuff is drying, but I am just going to go to sleep.

Welcome to Irvine, where I live
I have officially moved to Irvine, California. I also work in Irvine, California. This all makes things very convenient for me.
I just got this place today. The rent is $595 a month for the room, and about $30 for utilities, and $20 for cable and internet. That's really not bad. The room size is just fine. The closet should have space for me to put all my stuff, I just have to buy some separators, and cubey things. That should be easy since there is a Target near here, which is good.
Anywho, I'm happy to have my own room, where I can put all my things up, and actually use closet space, instead of living out of my bag. Tomorrow, I have to do the laundry, since I am out of far too many things.

Some odd side-effects
Ok, so the adaptation is completelly screwing up my eating habits.
I really no longer feel hunger, I just kinda have to figure out when I don't have to eat. Sometimes when I realize the time, and some other times because I start getting heartburn. Still it is just a tad weird.
Hopefully it doesn't mean anything bad, but hey, it's a whole new place, sitation, etc, etc.
Happy here I am so far. :)

Ohh when do I get paid?
So, we shall see if I get paid this friday, or 2 fridays from now. This shall prove very interesting indeed. Still, all good.
I really want to get my own room. i will probably end up getting something near the university, which should be cheap. I'm not really interested in sharing a room, but hey, if it comes down to that, then just fine. I've been looking at Orange county craigslist.
I've been using HousingMaps to try to get a place. It's nice and friendly, and the most feature that I love, is the fact that everything is mapped, and I can see things by price range. it's nice. Anywho, the hardest part is having to e-mail people, and trying to get everything settled.

A Picture Share!
A Picture Share!
More familiar, as time goes along
So, today I finally get a chance to stop at the grocery store. My Kroger's plus card works over there, which is very interesting, but not a bit surprise since the Kroger Co. owns Ralph's. Still, it was nice to have virtually all the brands I knew, very close to me. It felt nice to have a place, that is not completelly alien.
Granted, IHOP wasn't an alien place either, it was just more expensive.
Also, one of my favorite shows, the closer, which deals with the LAPD, is filmed in the area. This made me feel even better.
Still, I keep waking up to nice sunny day, after nice sunny day. Trust me, I am NOT complaining, but sometimes those hazy days, with rain are useful. Still, there is no rain on the forecast for the next 10 days. *Le Sigh*

Walked around Hollywood Today
So, today, I talked around Hollywood.
That was interesting. I passed by Improv Olympic West (iOwest), and saw that the cast of MADtv does improv there Tuesdays @ 9pm, so I might to see that. I also passed by the Pantages, and saw that as a great opportunity to get to see Wicked. That is, when I get the money, heh.
The nice thing, is that I can walk to the theatre, so I don't have to worry about parking, which is good. Granted, it's really not that expensive to park over there. $8.00 on some of the lots is just fine.
Still, I am enjoying the town, and seeing what there is to see. Granted... there is a whole lot to see, and I have just scratched the surface.

Settling In
I've printed maps of the area, and tomorrow, I will probably swing by a book shop, and by a Thomas guide to the Orange County, Los Angeles Area.
My first impression of the guy I am living with, was slanted a little bit towards the ucky side of things, but we had a talk, and things are much more relaxed and friendly than they previously seen, so it's all good. I'm happy, and more comfortable now. The not so good first impression was also in part, that I had arrived a little earlier than expected. So he did not have time to set everything up as he wished. Still, it's all good now. *smiles*
I went to the Beverly Center mall today, and it took a short bit to get used to the parking, but it was all good. I also found a Wachovia bank in the area, so I can deposit things again. It's a small pain to get there, but it's all good.
Still, I want to get a place near my work soon. Essentially, it's a 45 mile drive to work as it stands. In an Atlanta sense, it's like driving from gwinnett county to the airport, and then driving halfway back. Yeah, it's that far. I will have to be driving really early on the day, to avoid the dreadedful traffic I keep hearing of.
Tomorrow, is shopping for food day, and getting organized. This should be fun.

Job starts monday
So, my new position, will officially start monday. This should be a fun and interesting learning experience.
Over the next 4 days, I will try to get acquainted with the city, and also try to find a place to live. Granted, I can't really full on do that, until I have received at least my first paycheck.
